As the first guest speaker for the relaunch of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Network, Louise brings her deep insight into the often-overlooked experiences surrounding pregnancy and birth. Her session will explore birth trauma, vicarious trauma, postpartum mental health, and the importance of holistic, inclusive maternity care.

Louise speaks with fierce compassion and grounded wisdom - not only as a clinician, but also as a mother, daughter, and advocate. Recently, she addressed the final event for the Parliamentary Friends of Maternal Health this term, speaking powerfully to MPs and sector leaders about the need to learn from the NSW Government’s Inquiry into Birth Trauma. She was invited to this event following her local advocacy, where she coordinated women to meet with Independent MP Helen Haines to call for greater access to home birth and trauma-informed care. Their voices contributed to legislative progress and a national conversation on birth justice.

This session is an invitation for all practitioners working in maternal mental health, including psychologists, counsellors, GPs, midwives, perinatal mental health nurses, nurses, educators, and social workers to come together in shared learning and renewed responsibility.
